Are there shops and restaurants nearby, within walking distance?

There are some really good restaurants inside the hotel as well. I would also recommend an Uber or shuttle across the bridge and walk all the shops and food to Pier 60. Worth the walk during the day!

There is a free shuttle that takes you across the bridge. Driving is 3 minutes, shuttle is the same.
