They dont charge the card right away, they place a hold on account for the estimated rental costs to make sure that amount is available on card. They don't actually charge anything until the end when you return the rental.
I started my Storage contract right after the Hurricane. They had a 1 month free promotion, but basically they charge your card every 30 days. Just make sure you check your Contract so you know the date it renews.
You can pay cash deposit of $100 if you have no card but they usually need a card to hold for deposit. They charge at the end
