I agree with Hally and Frank...my experience as well.
In my experience you only need to make reservations if you'd like a special table or if you're in a large party that wishes to dine together (sixish or more may require them to set up something special for you)
You don't usually need to, maybe on a holiday evening I guess but I've never had to wait more than 10 or 15ish minutes on a busy night.
