If you have a membership or the slip, they allow full returns. If they recognize you, you don't even really need the slip for a full return.
Even without a sales slip you can probably get a store credit and get books you really do like

I don't see why not
They refused to take my return (with receipt). They said I had to return it to the Barnes and Noble where I purchased it. This caused me additional headache so I will not buy from them again.
