You do not HAVE to have one. However, you will definitely be waiting for a little bit of a while if you don't make a reservation ahead of time.

Yes it is recommended. You should make reservations at least 24-48 hrs prior to day. We arrived around 3pm on Saturday and no reservation was required. We only waited about 15min for a party of 7.
I definitely recommend calling ahead and make a reservation. Regular seating time can take quite a while if there is room.
