If your bringing on one, and holding it, I would say yes. I don't think they're setup for leaving one unattended, a lot of very old wood...
I'm sure the answer is no. In an old structure as this there is always the fear of fire. That's why the rectory next to the mission was moved years ago because it was originally right next to the mission. They do have a yearly pilgrimage to the mission and it could be on that day they light candles (supervised) for prayers.
