This is not the location Almanzo planted trees. This is the homestead site of Charles and Caroline Ingalls. The 5 cottonwoods Pa planted are still there.
Almanzo's tree claim is just a couple of miles north of De Smet. There are a few cottonwood trees there, but no way to know if they are the ones Almanzo planted for their wedding.
The 5cottonwood trees the pa ingalls planted for each member of his family is still located just down the hill from where the home used to be... There is a marker there...
The homestead is her parents. Not Laura and Almonzo.
