Why is it still called 99 cent only store when they have items for higher prices too. It was just shocking when I shopped there last and saw items for 4.99 on my receipt.

Yeah its been going on for a while now..but maybe if enough people complain they will change the name. Its still a bargain store.

The company was started in 1965 and all their products were 99¢ until 2003 when they started carrying items below 99¢. But in 2007 they started raising the prices above 99 by changing the pricing structure to 99.99¢ and below.

Because the majority of their items are 99 cents. And the other items you are referring to are cheaper than normal stores.
