Unfortunately, yes! But I would assume that the lodge has improved a great deal in reducing the noise, perhaps during the recent renovations. My recent stay, as of a month and a half ago, proved that the trolley sound, along with the various sounds from the nearby shipyard, is virtually gone. So, if I were a new customer, I wouldn't be highly concerned. Give it a try...it might be a lovely stay.
Yes, the BNSF train does roll through in the evenings and sounds there horn before entering the intersection. There is also the San Diego trolley that rolls through during the day and honks at the intersection. Aside from the trains, NASCO ship building company is also across the street and the cranes sound their horns before moving. Everything is fairly muffled through the glass, but you will hear it. Having grown up six blocks from this area I found it soothing and a fond memory of home.
We only stayed one night and never heard any train horns.
Like Michael stated, you don't hear the trolley at night, or during the day for the most part.
Its the Trolley and it doesnt run all night.
I never heard a train while in my room. There's a trolley right outside the gate but never heard that either.
