It isn't due to safety, although we did have a couple guys steal a cart full of meat one night. I have a family friend in Joplin, Missouri who also worked at a Neighborhood Market and they lost their 3rd shift too. It is a corporate decision due to low sales at night. Most employees took a $0.50 pay cut with the lost of 3rd shift. I personally took a $1.11 pay cut and there was an older employee that had been with Walmart over 6 years took a $3.00 pay cut. It was to save money, not for our safety. It made the shifts and work load chaotic when they cut 3rd and I miss that shift as well.
