Ms. Dubay nailed it! Although possible if the roof qualifies--not past its useful life, no rotten wood, no deflection in the deck, etc--in which we have in the past installed over shingles, it it is always best to tear-off the roof down to the decking when investing in a lifetime roofing solution such as metal. This way we can do any necessary wood repairs, nail off the deck to current code standards, dry-in the roof with a self-adhered underlayment--this qualifies for an additional wind mitigation credit--and ensure the best substrate for the new metal roof. We hope this helps! Thank you.
Highly doubtful. When I priced their metal roof it was I believe a 100 yr warranty with Arry's. Since they are very thorough with their work, I believe they will want to start fresh with new boards if need replacement and base support layer to protect the wood. Call them directly, they are always happy to answer questions without obligations.
