How much for a state ID

Karina Paulenas | Mar 23, 2020

To get an Illinois state ID, you will need to gather documents like your Social Security card, a proof of residence, and your birth certificate and bring them to your nearest Driver Services office or Secretary of State facility . You will then need to pay the required fee, based on your age and residence status. The ID will then be issued to you in the mail so you can use it when you need it. Bring the documents to a Driver Services office or a Secretary of State facility. Look up the nearest office or facility in your area in Illinois online. You can also use a search database on the DMV website:  https://www.dmv.org/il-illinois/dmv-office-finder.php. There is no minimum age for a state ID card. It costs $5 if you are under 18 years old and $20 if you are over 18 years old to get an Illinois State ID.
