Without having the device in hand to diagnose my best guess is that the hard drive has failed or is failing. If that is the case it may not be worth repairing. Bring it in and we will see what can be done.
Not sure. But, they have treated me fairly with my phone issues. Seem very knowledgeable, they could could probably help you.

Won't connect to PC. Wires are good. USB is good. Rebooted it 10,000 times. Says there is no music on the iPod, but the memory shows it being used and what remains.
