Yes the road is across the ridge, the parking lot is fairly close to the edge, but there is a very short walk to the overlook.
Bumpy road with some potholes it's past the parking lot to virgin falls and the road on your right (look for a sign saying there's a helipad) the walk is very short when you reach the overlook parking lot.
You can drive to within a couple hundred yards of the overlook. We drive our truck but many take their cars. The road is safe for car or truck. Great view.
You can drive all the way back to where it's only about a hundred yards walk there is a circular area for parking
