The number the doctor gives is like an access code to enroll with the State. Once you pay the $78 fee it takes a couple weeks for the State to process everything. You get an email from the State with your medical ID number which you can then take to a dispensary. They are supposed to mail a card but I hear some people ever got theirs. Also you have to renew every year your license every year with the state. And every 7 months check in at the doctor.

No you need to wait until you are added to the Florida registry. Then you can use that number as a reference number with your email from the state
