If you people think that all of the proceeds go to the VETS you are just kidding yourselves. RED RACKS is privately owned and operated by a corporation. Not a charity. A corporation is out to make money. They are not in it for the VETS.
While most thrift stores do look at labels and demand and price according, I do agree that they've raised a lot of their prices to the point that it is a deterrent, charity or not. More reasonable prices mean more business and more sales, hence more donations being made.
Just a side note, ....this is a charitable organization. Its end goal is not to provide the lowest prices.
I agree/disagree. I agree that they are pricing themselves out of business. But it is money for our VETS, But still, if I was gonna pay retail, I'd go retail. I donate ALL OF MY ITEMS, to DAV, excuse me RedRack, Good will is owned and operated to benefit the operators totally from the Free Dontions, they can afford to set one price for anything and still gain. If I find out that the VETS AREN'T BENEFITING ANY LONGER, I WILL GIVE IT AWAY TO CHURCHES OR BURN IT FIRST. VETS HAVE IT RAW ANYWAY. I GIVE AND BUY FOR OUR VETS. BUT NEITHER ARE THEY GONNA ROB ME.
To anybody that is defending this place based on it being a "charitable" organization, you are either ignorant or biased. It is one thing to make a profit after overhead, its another to gouge based in the name of charity. Id bet you support killing in the name of religion, as well.....
My understanding is that about 10% goes to charity. I've also heard that other DAV stores owned by the same people have less expensive prices.
Yes very true
