I did not personally experience that requirement when I adopted my cat from there 2 years ago. They are pretty reasonable overall when it comes to their adoption process. I applied for and took home my cat on the same day.
If you got him you have a good Cat because he was mine at one time. I still miss him and his real name is Marley
