Manatees are only there in the cooler weather and gone when it starts warming up.
Come in the winter for manatees. Scallops in the summer. Drink lots of water and gatorade because it is brutally hot during scallop season.
Not the time for manatee, but it will be scallop season. Short version, you snorkel for bay scallops in the grass flats. Requires a boat or guided trip.
I went two weekends ago and saw 1 manatee. From what I understand the Summer time is not prime season to see manatees. Better to wait until the air is cooler. The water at the springs is a constant 72 degrees. Which is why the tend to congregate there during the winter.
Not usually in the Springs. 50-60 live in the bay area but sometimes hard to find.
