No, unfortunately they are not a No-kill shelter, which is why Fostering is so crucial to avoiding Euthanasia to innocent cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. I believe this program has increased the number of animals saved annually, but do not personally know the actual figures of how many animals are euthanized/ saved each year. I personally would love for every shelter to be no kill, and that is, why I choose to foster as well as advocate for people to become a Foster home. More importantly is to Spay and Neuter, including the TNR (Trap, Neuter, and Return) Programs, and would love ro see less kittens/ puppies born each year by proven methods which limit and control Feral and Community Cat populations, are human and effective. Alley Cats web site, Fix our Ferals, are two awesome sites to learn more and hopefully help the decision to get involved. Thanks for asking, I hope this helps!

Their live release rate (ie the %, of all the animals they intake, tht make it out alive, whether thru adoption, transfer, etc) usually hovers around 83% which means they're just 7% away from being able to call themselves a "no kill" shelter! Yes, thts right, AN ORGANIZATION CAN EUTHANIZE 10% OF THE ANIMALS IT TAKES IN & STILL CALL ITSELF "NO KILL." When they reach a LRR of 95% & kill 5% they're called "never kill"😂 No matter HOW close to zero our extremely high-volume shelter manages amazingly to get, I hope they don't take up kill no kill terminology, even if they can, since the language is deceptive & doesn't take into account tht unlike private rescues & national organizations, municipal shelters don't have the luxury of plush budgets or being able to turn sick or injured animals away. Considering these challenges, the shelter's rates are nothing short of miraculous.
