Probably if you have Verizon. However if your child is a camper they don't allow cellphones.
For years I had T-Mobile, and was never able to get any kind of reception. I would need to drive down to Boulder Creek to use my cell. Now I have switched to Project Fi and am able to call and text from different locations within the camp.
