With a 2 year old, we spent like 3hrs and the first floor was closed. We later walk around outside because that place is soooo beautiful!

A reasonable amount of time is definitely 2-3 hours. So many exhibits to let the little ones to explore. If you stay longer it is cause you either stayed at an exhibit longer than others or went to it twice.
