The 11.98v version can be retrofitted pretty easily with the optional pulley sets sold on the other side of the store on the aisle behind the welders, and near the misc hardware. The 11.98V will work just fine on it's own without the pulley set, but the tractor will draw higher current. Also on the revision 3a wire looms, you may have to remove the tab on the wire connector or splice the wires. If it's for a show tractor and you want it 100% authentic vintage correct, best bet is to have the original rebuilt by a auto electric shop. The ones that are sold at Tractor Supply are imported remanufactured units from Indonesia and have stamped steel housings. The orig. As everyone knows is cast. I have always wondered if you could remove the innards of the old housing and replace with the guts of the newer ones? Would work if you have a press and the Torrington bearing isn't metric?!
Good spot
