Yes this is a very open arms place. Workers are very helpful and if it seems a little overwhelming start w the help desk and say hi. Ask questions maybe a worker will walk you about to see everything. I still find new things and have been w Rainbow since the 80's
Yes, it is not a shopper membership co-op. Rainbow Grocery is a worker owned cooperative. That means the people who work there are the owners. They concentrate on Fair Trade and Organic (CCOF, Oregon Tilth), non-GMO labled foods. Prices on most organic items are less than other stores. The only meat/fish in the store is in the Pet Food section.
Yes, everybody can shop. Prices are more expensive, even for items you find elsewhere like heater candles or a notebook. There are items there that you won't find elsewhere. So you may want to consider this.
