Phyllis, a plant will experience some degree of stress when transplanted. Typically leaf curl is indicative of too little water. Increase your watering to a slow, deep watering 3x per week. You want to aim to get at least 3 gallons of water per shrub per watering. Leaves that have already died may fall off this season. Mulching around where your shrub is planted will help cool the soil and retain water. You should notice a difference in the very near future.

Probably the soil didn't have all the minerals and nutrients that it was used to. That would be my first guess.
