It's good to go to your local DMV but make sure you go get in line around 5:30am so you can get in before 9:am.

That is correct. You could schedule an appointment online but I tried that and the soonest one they gave me was almost 2 months out. If you have until December those are your options. Please just be safe and don't go outside more than necessary. Take care!
