They will but be careful they will call your landlord and tell them you do not have the funds to pay rent. If you don't want somebody to call your landlord there's other churches in the area that will help you. Thankfully I found this out ahead of time when I was struggling I did not want my landlord to know in any way shape or form that I couldn't pay rent, and went through hard times for a moment, that would have not been good.
We do offer assistance for rent & utilities, yes! You can come by and fill out an application during our office hours, which are Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm! We do send money directly to the parties owed, yes! This is for the sake of accountability, to make sure that the funds being given make it into the right hands. It’s not at all meant to be an insult or to cause problems with your relationship with your landlord, and we are very sorry if that has been a result of this.
Why are you guys so ashamed of your landlord knowing you needed assistance. Everyone hits hard times occasionally. And if your landlord isn't a slumlord then you should have no drama from the situation cause you landlord doesn't care how it's paid as long as it is paid.
That breaks my heart.I am a single mom and full time student.I have extremly bad asteoarthritis and just had my fourth shoulder surgery.I currently am unable to work as of surgery.I still need a shoulder replacement.I STILL tithe weekly and am barely meeting ends meats.I am hurt that the church feels it is necessary to contact the landlord of a tenant and state, what is clearly obvious when writing a check to a landlord. Is this true Heart of the City?
Lola some landlords actually see it as a way to evict a tennant. I'm sure there has to be some other reasons or complaints to evict the person but if nithing else, it is a check against you.
