When I first walk in, are there any fees for getting a book? Or do I go straight to looking for books and just check out?

No fees. You do need a valid id to apply for a library card if you don't already have one. ☺

You can look at books without a card but if you want to check one out you'll need to get a card from the librarian. There are no fees unless you bring a book back after it was due.
