My fathers house is a family shelter but not an emergency shelter. Meaning, it could take anywhere from a day to a couple of months to be accepted. They have really good programs however, they are not for everyone. You might want to contact 211 you have a baby...there are places that should take you immediately if its just you two. Everyone's experience varies. Some good some bad. There are those who are there as employees who are compassionate and want to see you leave successful. The experience as a resident would be entirely different from the experience of an employee. There was alot of favoritism, however the concern is for the needs of you and your child to be met in being housed. Prayer changes things. I pray for the best for you and your family.
My wife works there with the kids and absolutely loves it there.
No. You do not have to be out in the morning. If you and your child are accepted, you live there. You have classes to take and there is care in the facility for your little one. If you call there during hours, someone will connect you to an intake person. There obviously are rules while you live there, but considering what you get while you are there and when you leave, it is well worth a few challenges. Good people be work there who want you to succeed!
I would highly recommend calling to see how they might be able to help you, they aren't really a "one size fits all" organization but they are incredible
