What's a good small "size" handgun for protection

Small? That would be a 380 or 9 mm. 45 is on the larger end of handgun rounds. Smith & Wesson is a good brand. If you're looking for something cheaper Taurus makes pretty decent guns. My wife has a Taurus 380 tcp.
