I've found the later times to be best for laps. I haven't tried the 7:30am, but the 8:30 is usually pretty packed with older ladies because of the water aerobics (with tues/thurs being worse for laps because the water aerobics are in the lap lanes effectively taking up half of 2 lanes and making the lap lanes more full). I l go for the kids pool with my daughter and mum and she was pretty salty about the lacking lanes on a tuesday we went). Hope this helps! P.s. yes there are kickboards and kids chest floaties provided.
