Very slowly. Rough is an under-statment. I was actual not happy with the Parks Service. There is no reason not to have the road paved all the way if they expect people to pay to get in the park. I don't believe there is camping there though, you might want to check the web page for the park if you are thinking of camping there
The dirt road is maintained. You can drive with your trailer without a problem.
I drove up all the way to the entrance with my Ford Mustang rental car. It's possible to go about 20mph. Other cars with more clearance mostly aren't going faster anyways. So should be possible with nearly any car!
I have confirmed at least two other vehilces have brought their pop ups to Bodie. The road is rough but my Subaru WRX made it (going around 15 mph) but my shocks did bottom out. If you have a truck, you should be fine. A Lee Vining local told me the road is not snow plowed because they want to keep it "in as much of its original state as possible" so it ends up as a washboard style road, but thankfully no potholes. When you get to the Bodie parking lot, don't pull into it as you are instructed to park trailers and large vehicles on the side of the road just past the parking lot. When you leave, you will go down the road a 1/2 mile to the picnic area so you can turn around and go back the same way you came from way via a loop road.
Good to know. Thank you! We are not planning on staying there but had hoped to visit for a few hours on our way north. Guess it will be a slow go!
You can do it, but as others have stated it can be rough in some spots if the parks maintenance hasnt had a chance to work on it . Bodie is totally worth that slow drive out and park rangers are super friendly and informative.
It's pretty rough and you'll need to drive in very slowly. You should be able to pull your camper just fine though.
It's a well maintained dirt road coming from 395. You'll be fine. East of Bodie the road eventually gets a little rougher but you could probably still pull a camper there too on to Aurora.
