Why wasn’t it kept in it’s original state? When I was a little girl my Dad took us to different ghost towns and Bodie was our favorite. I have pictures proving you have added several buildings and cars, very disheartening to say the least.

They have to maintain the roofs on the building's or the walls and interiors will quickly be destroyed. They replaced the roofs with period materials like shakes or corrugated metal, which will weather and in future years be less noticeable. Buildings with failed walls or roofs are allowed to decompose.

We've been there twice and enjoyed it both times. It has changed a bit with new additions, but they are OLD and fit in. We don't have a problem with it.
