I can confirm that Balsam mountain is only online reservations this is a change from last year
Reservations are made at recreation.gov you may be able to pay cash if you go to the office at Smokemont Campground first. But you can call the toll-free number 1-877-444-6777 for or get an answer from recreation.gov
Only online with credit card. Even if you drive to camp, the host will not take cash from you.
I think starting this year they require online booking and reservations. In the past is was first come first served and you paid in cash.
I believe you can pay in cash at the campsite. If you're reserving online you will need to use a card.
