We went at 7pm on a Saturday with a reservation, there were several parties waiting for an open table. We were glad we made a reservation because we were seated immediately.
No a reservation is not necessary but is recommended if you plan on visiting during peak hours. One can be made by calling the brewery directly, the link to Open Table doesn't work.
