I prefer to take my dogs on the trail that starts just south of the Tal's Trailhead sign. The other trail option (the one that is on the northwest side of the parking lot) has cattle on it, and I don't want to worry about my dogs bothering the livestock and vice versa.
Yes, you can bring your furry kids. Remember to bring a bag to clean up any feces they may produce.
