There are cashiers both in the 10-15 item or less isles and the regular ones. When the manager sees a line forming they call up for more cashiers. I've never waited in any long line.
They are usually pretty good but there have been some long wait times lately.
That's unusual... They are usually really efficient...I agree with possibly being shorthanded.
