Yes they take cash but also hold a card on file... make sure you hand them the cash before the card... they double charged me and it takes 4 days to get your money back
Yes, LaQuinta still takes cash, no deposit is required, but if using cash, you must provide a credit/debit card (which will not be charged unless necessary) for incidentals/damages.
Im not sure if any hotels take cash anymore, if they do you still have to have a credit card for a deposit on the room in case of damages
