You should get a player's card. Then go play when they send you free hotel stays, comp buffet and free play. That's what I do.
If you are a member of most casino's players club and spend money regularly, they usually have discounts and free stays in the hotel.
They won't give you a courtesy night but will book your room under a credit card, which you can then pay for in cash when you have it
I highly doubt it if they're not the ones responsible for you losing your money. Of course i do not work there and that has never happened to me so you might want to go to the front desk that handles reservations and ask the supervisor.
