I have a queen size down comforter that should be cleaned. Should I have it dry cleaned or wash it in a large machine?

Dry-cleaning a down comforter is expensive, I personally wash in large washer and dry with several tennis balls. It's much cheaper and in my opinion it works just as well.

I've done both ways depending on the time of year it may be best to dry clean. During the early summer I run it through the wash.
