We had have a stopover in Lake View Lodge in Lee Vining in January this year. It's a great location. When you want to go to Stockton normally you use the Tioga Pass. The street is winding and steep in the mountains. But be carefully the pass is closed in winter time. You can drive some miles and then you have turn and come back. I hope I Cold help you.

We travelled.on the 120 to lee vining, not sure where stockton is in relation to this. Parts of the 120 are high so u need to concentrate and drive carefully preferably in daylight. Its a wonderful drive though with amazing view points. Lake view lodge in lee vining is a great base we enjoyed having a drink in the gardens in the evenings. Breakfasts and food are great at the restaraunt conected to the hotel. The.localstore stocks everything u could need. There are also great restaraunts and a diner, all food we had was lovely.
