Rascal by Sterling North, Call of the Wildby Jack London, local author Dan Ladd’s outdoor guides, another local series Adirondack Kids, Sniffer Dogs or Back from the Brink by Nancy Castaldo, Mike Lupica’s sports books, or anything by Steve Sheinkin. Have you gone upstairs to the kids section and met Leah Moore? She’s the best children’s bookseller, but any kids bookseller could help you find books that your child is sure to love!

Peterson field guide maybe. If he loves the outdoors, maybe Reptiles and amphibians, or Tree identification.

Yes, the classics are still worth reading. You might also consider short biographies of famous athletes. I dont think on maps you'll get a lot of specific title recommended unfortunately.

Im not positive but there are a lot of sports chapter books out there. I can't think of a name off the top of my head currently.
