what they did was put it into law without using a lawful process. like going to court and making a bill to vote on. it was never legal to take firearms away under any circumstance unless you are a danger to society. I got my foid card a year after I got my med card. had no problems and the state police will send you a renewal notice about three months before it exspiers.

I had a FOID when I first started, so yes, you can have a FOID. I doubt we will be able to renew them though. Good thing they are going away soon.
