Well you could track him down and let him receive it. Or just leave it be not your problem when you bought the laptop. I had something similar i returned a photo CD to a previous owner of my computer.
Someone could have just logged into their email. Take it back and tell them the situation. I'm sure they will exchange it with no problems, as long as you have your receipt.
If it's within the return policy then exchange it, if not then contact the manufacturer and explain it to them. When items are return to the store it goes back to the manufacturer to inspect it and decide what to do with it.
