We have gone for the past 3 years in January and somehow seems to miss the snow every time. It will snow the day after we leave. But as far as travel, I would definitely check the weather because once you get there depending on the cabin some are at very high altitudes & the roads are small & winding so if the weather is unfavorable i would make the necessary adjustments. This is our absolute favorite place ❤❤❤❤ Enjoy!!!
You are not far from us on Columbia. They have cabins on the "ground elevation" around the river. They are nice too. The cabins we stay at are 3500' elevation and the roads are good to get to them. However,I strongly advice an AWD or 4WD up the top 4 cabins. When it snows and ice is present it can be challenging for those not used to it. We drive a 4Runner,but we have used our Subaru many times up there also. There is no need for chains. But,highway rated tires would have difficult time in snow and ice. Hope this helps.
