So why check the receipts if you arent checking for stolen items? Is asset protection all about checking receipts?

It's my experience they only check u bagged items. Not offended by non bagged items. However no other department stores do this. Other stores have paid stickers on unbagged items. Perhaps their to cheap to buy stickers. Oxymoron for one of the richest stores in America.

It's a deterrent. But it doesn't stop everyone. Just voluntarily show them your receipts as you walk out. They aren't singling anyone out. They should be continuously checking receipts as people walk out.
