The trailer is not a great idea , could it be done? Yes ... But recommend? ... No. Cell phone is a absolute no.
Zero cell for many miles around the camp. The 17 Mile road from Petrolia to Mattole Beach takes 40 minutes in an all wheel drive van towing nothing. That said I watched a dude pull in with a big pick up and about that size trailer when we were there. So it depends on your skill level and how well your suspension handles a very narrow, twisty and sometimes single lane road. There were wash outs in the beginning of November, and the rain had not started yet. If you do make it in there, please don't put any outside lighting on. It's a primative camp for a reason. Just watch the night sky.
I rode my Harley in on the Dirt Rd. So I would hope the Excursion would work. 19' trailer about all you're going to get in there. Small campground. No go on cell at all...
No idea about the trailer but cell phone signal is almost a 100% no.
