The rule of thumb we usually go by is 3 to 5 years but if they can is in good shape meaning no rust no gouges no swelling is probably good I have opened product more than 10 years old is been perfectly fine. But we also always say if you have a doubt throw it out.
If there is no rust around the lid or can is swollen out you are good.
