There are several parking areas with trails going all thru out the state forest.

There were some short trail too the gorge to see the river. Good for kids. Very pretty and easy. The river itself is a for expert rafter. I would not go without a guide

The "wild and scenic river" designation does not allow extensive trail development. There are only about 7 miles of trails and 47 miles of river in the reservation. Additionally, the 13.5-mile Obed section of the Cumberland trail, a Tennessee State Park, traverses the reservation. Trails are generally well maintained, and easy to moderate in difficulty. Some trails come very close to the edge of high cliffs, so you should exercise good judgment and respectful care. The visitor center for the reservation is in Wartburg, TN, and is well worth a visit. The Obed Wild and Scenic River is very near Frozen Head State Park. This park has an excellent variety of hiking trails. Generally, if you like hiking, waterfalls, flowing water, wildflowers, and impressive vistas, this area is among the best in the Southeast.
