There was one in Detroit, on Michigan ave just west of Livernoise next to the Senate show that opened in the 40's. I think that this was the original one? It was one block away from George's coney island.

Thanks, I had gotten the impression from my friends that it had been there longer. I graduated from Franklin and left to go to college in California in 1966. I wasn't familiar with the Senate until my trip back in 2007 because I stayed at a nearby Motel. I got the impression from my friends that it had been there as far back as when I lived in Livonia but I had no memory of going to it with my parents like I did Mamma Mia. Now I know it didn't open until 20 years after I left the area.
