Point defiance is by far larger with more to see and has an aquarium. Woodland usually has more active animals to see but the zoo itself is more or less a giant circle so basically a quicker walk thru. Woodland Park charges for parking. Point defiance has free parking and more family friendly activities however parking can be tricky despite it having a huge parking lot. Point defiance is in Tacoma and is close to beaches, parks, the waterfront. Woodland is in the busier end of Seattle and there are local stores etc to visit but not much else nearby. Really depends what pros/cons you're going for. Hope that helps :)
Leah explained so well here, Point Defiance park is the 702 acre park... its huge! And the zoo is " Situated on 29 acres (12 ha) in Tacoma's Point Defiance Park, the zoo and aquarium are home to over 9,000 specimensrepresenting 367 animal species." According to Wikipedia.. it's really worth a visit!
Point Defiance is the larger zoo. And they just open the second aquarium so now they have to. Woodland Park Zoo the aquarium is separate. I was just there this weekend. It was a lovely trip in the sunshine.
